Some information about the Freie evangelische Gemeinde Heidelberg

Unfortunately, we cannot translate our church’s entire website into English, but this page will at least give you an overview about us and our activities.

The Freie evangelische Gemeinde Heidelberg was founded in 1989. Many people from Heidelberg and the surrounding area have found a spiritual home here in the meantime. They experience how wonderfully enriching it is to live out and share faith together with other Christians.

The name "Freie evangelische Gemeinde”, which literally translated means free evangelical community, implies integral characteristics of our church. As a free church we are independent from the state and therefore do not receive financing through church tax, but rather through donations. We also understand free in the sense of an individual’s personal, free decision to believe, to come to church and to serve in the church.

We are associated with and work together with other Christian congregations and churches that share the desire to awaken and support belief in Jesus Christ.

Evangelical expresses our commitment to Christianity that is molded by the gospel.    And we are exclusively a community which means that we live out our beliefs with other Christians. You can read about the different forms this community can have under the heading "Veranstaltungen".

Unfortunately, our services are not translated into English, but there are a few Americans and Britons among our congregation.
